Frequently Asked Questions

If you're on this page, you're probably wondering how you play "Muggle Quidditch", whether or not you'd be able to play, or something similar. We hope these FAQs will answer your questions, but if not, feel free to get in touch with us through our contact page.

01

How do you play Quidditch without magic?

Actually, Muggle Quidditch isn't all that different from the original... Only you do the work of the magic! (Isn't that always the way...) Bludgers are semi-deflated dodgeballs thrown by beaters, the snitch is a brave soul in yellow, and brooms are usually pvc pipes or hockey sticks. It's a lot going on at once (sort of a hybrid of dodgeball, rugby, tag, and catch) but very easy to understand once it's explained!

02

Is this a real sport?

Yes, yes, a thousand times YES! Quidditch is actually a full-contact inter-collegiate sport played across the world. Our team travels for tournaments, and the best teams even compete at a World Cup not unlike the one in the Harry Potter books (though with fewer Death Eaters). It requires physical fitness as well as dedication in order to play well!

03

Oh crap... so it's a serious thing? Can I still play?

Of course! We welcome players of any fitness and skill level. All that we require is that, no matter where you are right now, you have the dedication and enthusiasm to work hard and improve! It doesn't matter if you can't throw, can't run, and can't catch; what matters is that, by the end of the semester, you intend to be helping teach those things!

04

Great... So how do I join?

Joining the team is easy! Just find us at one of our events or practices, send an email through the website, or visit our facebook page to get started! We'll welcome you with the open arms and friendliness that we pride ourselves on as a team... then put you to work! We have more experienced players who are always happy to take new players under their wing - both on and off the pitch!
